WELCOME TO MATH BEYOND THE CLASSROOM
Where the real magic of mathematics unfolds
Remember when math was just about x's and y's? We're here to showcase the bigger picture. Dive into the intricacies of non-Euclidean geometries, where straight lines aren't really "straight", or explore the unpredictable and chaotic world of fractals, where a simple pattern can lead to an infinitely complex design.
OUR GOAL
With us, math isn’t confined to the four walls of a classroom.
We introduce you to the wondrous world of game theory, where decision-making and strategy merge, or the enigmatic realm of number theory which has puzzled mathematicians for centuries.
Ever heard of the "Four Color Theorem" or the mesmerizing patterns of Pascal’s Triangle? They are just a glimpse of what’s in store.
Rediscover math as the vibrant, ever-evolving subject it truly is. So, why stick to the mundane when there's a universe of math waiting to be explored? Come, let's venture beyond.
Modeling the Future
As environmentalists, scientists, and activists look to the future, mathematical models help them make informed decisions regarding environmental phenomena, such as climate change, population dynamics, and ecological systems. In this post, we explore how mathematical modeling is used to understand and anticipate the environmental impact of climate change.
How to Save a Life?
It sounds cheesy at the outset, but math can *actually save lives. Mathematics is behind many medical breakthroughs and routine treatments, powering everything from disease modeling and medical imaging to drug development and healthcare optimization.
ABOUT THE FOUNDER
Ryan Chao
Ryan is a high schooler with a deep-rooted passion for mathematics, evident from his self-study trajectory that's taken him beyond conventional school curriculum into college-level courses. He is an AIME qualifier and immersed himself in elite summer programs like AwesomeMath, IdeaMath, and Canada/USA Mathcamp.
While math dominates Ryan's academic landscape, it's balanced with an intrinsic love for teaching. As a mentor for his siblings and other students, Ryan has demonstrated that knowledge is best when shared.
Beyond mathematics, Ryan's interests span from chess, where he's attained a 1900 rating on chess.com and serves as his school's Co captain, to theater, where he’s showcased his flair for performance. A genuine renaissance student, Ryan's been spotted skiing down challenging slopes, juggling with precision, and even sketching dragons with a keen eye for detail. He's a voracious reader with a penchant for writing, a skill he hopes to merge with his love for math in the future.

The Paradoxes
Sometimes, mathematics takes us into unexpected territory. We discuss famous mathematical puzzles like the Monty Hall problem, the Banach-Tarski paradox, and the birthday paradox, explaining their underlying concepts and their (somewhat) counterintuitive solutions.
